  • 4- Be a resident of, or maintain a principal place of business in, the county where you request your appointment.

  • 5- Read and write in the English language.

  • 6- Be free of any felony convictions within the past ten years. If previously convicted of a felony, the ten-year period includes completion of the sentence for that crime, any term of imprisonment, parole, or probation, and payment of all fines, costs, and assessments.

  • 7- Have not been convicted of two (2) or more misdemeanor offenses involving a violation of the Michigan Notary Public Act within 12 months while commissioned or three (3) or more misdemeanor offenses involving a violation of this act within five years, regardless of being commissioned.

  • 8- Not be currently serving a term of imprisonment in any state, county, or federal correctional facility.
